Canesten  500 mg soft vaginal capsule is used to treat genital fungal infections and related inflammations. These infections are usually caused by Candida species.
Symptoms of an inflammatory infection: The external genitals may be red and swollen, itchy and sensitive. Vaginal discharge occurs, the cavity wall is covered with cottage cheese plaque.
The active substance in Canesten  500 mg soft vaginal capsule, clotrimazole, has a broad spectrum antifungal activity.

The vaginal capsule should be introduced into the vagina once in the evening. If symptoms do not disappear after a single treatment, treatment may be repeated after discussion with your doctor.
Use in children and adolescents
Canesten  500 mg soft capsules are not suitable for use in patients below 18 years of age due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy.
Method of application
The vaginal capsule should be inserted deep into the vagina in the evening with the applicator. This is most effective when lying on the back with slightly raised legs. During pregnancy, the vaginal tablet should be used without an applicator.
The soft coating of the vaginal capsule ensures easy application even in the case of vaginal and vulvar inflammation. The vaginal capsule melts in minutes and forms an emulsion on the surface of the vaginal mucosa.
